Postman strengthens API platform with tools for API-first developers and businesses

Postman, the world’s leading API platform, today announced Postman v10, the most significant update to the platform in nearly a year, with new API management and security features, as well as expanded collaboration and integration capabilities – and greater productivity than ever before before. Postman continues to deliver on its core themes of productivity, quality, and manageability while bringing its vision of an API-first world to life.

With APIs being the building blocks of modern software, business users are increasingly turning to APIs. Investments in APIs will increase or remain the same across all organizations over the next 12 months, according to 89% of respondents in Postman’s 2022 State of the API report, which surveyed more than 37,000 API professionals. Postman now makes it easier than ever to create, use, and collaborate on APIs, whether they’re independent developers, cross-functional teams in a global enterprise, or even different companies.

New and improved features now available on the Postman API platform support a variety of development needs, following Postman’s core themes, including:

High productivity:

  • Native Git support: Developers can now integrate Postman’s API platform with their Git source code repository, enabling multi-user and multi-site collaboration
  • Partner Workspaces: Postman’s Partner Workspaces provide a shared, secure, access-oriented space where organizations can invite partners to collaborate and build products and services using their APIs
  • A new version of Private API Network: Postman’s Private API Network provides a catalog for all APIs, making them faster to discover and reuse. Postman makes the private API network even more powerful with support for collections and workspaces.

Excellent quality:

  • Test automation using the Postman CLI: Postman’s command-line interface provides extensibility for integration with continuous integration and build systems. Developers can get collections and environments, complete administrative checks and tests, and run them directly from the command line – and the results are synced to their Postman instances.
  • Postman for gRPC: Postman natively supports gRPC as part of its ongoing support for standard and emerging API frameworks, including REST, SOAP, WebSockets, and GraphQL.

Hermetic control:

  • API Security: Postman API Security helps companies provide security policies and rules to developers on the same platform where they design, build, test and deploy their APIs without the developer having to change existing workflows.
  • API Governance: API governance allows developers to discover sets of rules early in the API lifecycle, improve the quality of their APIs, and provide organizations with insights into how APIs adhere to standards, attitudes, and guidelines.

“Large companies struggle to build and manage thousands upon thousands of APIs, which in turn require thousands of developers,” said Abhinav Asthana, co-founder, and CEO of Postman. “Postman makes it easy for everyone by providing scalable solutions, from integrated security and governance rules to automated testing and collaborative workspaces, all on a single platform.”
