Three new Apple Watch models to launch in 2022

The Cupertino-based Apple tech giant plans to launch three new Apple Watch models next year.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple Watch line in 2022 will include the Apple Watch Series 8, the second-generation Apple Watch SE, and a new version of “extreme sports,” MacRumors reports.

The Apple Watch SE 2 will be the same as the original SE model launched in 2020.

The original Apple Watch SE 2 has a similar design to classic Apple Watch models but has some of the more advanced features like the constant display, blood oxygen sensor, and ECG function.

Additionally, Apple Watch is planning a brand new Apple Watch aimed at athletes. It will have a “hardened” design, which may have a housing that is more resistant to scratches, bumps, drops, etc.

Meanwhile, the Apple Watch 8 is expected to benefit from major updates in the sensor department.

Apple vendors are reportedly developing components for the next-generation Apple Watch Series 8 sensors that users can use to measure blood sugar.

Apple and its suppliers have already begun work on shortwave infrared sensors, a type of sensor commonly used in healthcare devices. The new sensor is likely to be installed on the back of the watch and will allow it to measure the wearer’s blood sugar and glucose levels.
