Cultural Influences on Eastern Relationships

Culture is more than just meal, garments, speech, traditions and practices, it’s also the way we interact and connect to one another. And the connections we have with another shape our lifestyles and determine our properly being.

In Asian cultures where a strong sense of family ideals, learning and recognition are emphasized, filial approval for dating or wedding associates is typically required. When these norms collide with American individualism, it can lead to strained relationships.

Despite the fact that they share common qualities such as relatives ideals, a commitment to education and respect for tradition, the distinctions between Asian Americans are great. The team is comprised of people from around 52 unique countries with diversified languages, cultures and traditions.

For instance, those who are earliest- creation Eastern Americans with roots in Korea, Japan or Vietnam are likely to have differing beliefs about what it means to be” Eastern”. These differences may also play a role in how well they fare when facing racism and other forms of discrimination.

A study that investigated racial identity theory suggested that individuals who endorse Asian values and experience high levels of racism reported lower well- being than those who endorse Western values. While there are many reasons for this, it could be that those who strongly identify with their racial/ethnic group have the resources to draw upon cultural values and styles of coping in these difficult situations. For example, a person who believes in emotional restraint might have the internal resources to deal with racist incidents because they believe these actions will not negatively impact their racial/ethnic community.
