Accenture uses its artificial intelligence (AI) database to help Colonial Pipeline, the largest refined pipeline in the United States, reduce regulated and deregulated electricity rates for its interstate pipeline system. The energy management project uses Accenture’s Utility Tracking System (UTS), the database of approximately 30 million anonymous accounts that the company has been compiling for more than 20 years. Designed to identify energy pricing options globally, UTS leverages AI-powered insights and automation as part of Accenture’s SynOps platform to continually improve the efficiency and reliability of electricity tariff savings recommendations.
Accenture uses UTS-generated information to determine utility bills for operations at approximately 80 Colonial Pipeline pumping stations along its 5,500-mile pipeline system, which supplies approximately 100 million gallons of refined petroleum products daily to US markets. The USA in the south and east. Supported by pricing options information, Accenture is introducing low-cost options, such as the lowest cost per kilowatt-hour, into the Colonial Pipeline and then partners with utilities to help implement new tariffs.
Yusuf Tayob, CEO of Accenture Operations Group, added: “Our work for Colonial Pipeline is an excellent example of how Accenture’s long-term investments in technology are helping clients increase business resilience in changing markets. We look forward to making further progress on this project and helping Colonial Pipeline determine how to purchase green energy, which is increasingly pushing infrastructure forward as consumers and stakeholders demand cleaner air and less environmental impact.”
